FIRST INITIATION

1-3 March 2024, Brussels

Are you interested in walking the Tantric path? Or have you already dipped your toe and/or other body parts into the practice, but you are not sure what it is that you are doing, what you are practicing, or what you practice for?

Tantra is a hugely complicated term, and we don’t presume to offer the Right Way for your understanding or practice. But what we can do is to put the practice in the context of a Way of Life, of relating to the world around us, of relating and understanding ourselves. Often Tantra is narrowed down to sexual or erotic couple work, massage, or sexual healing. But Tantra is so much broader than these practices, which actually have not much to do with the understanding of the work in the classical sense.

But this weekend is not about judging the practices of today’s neo-tantra. Rather, we practice some of the classical meditations of Tantra, and share an understanding of where these practices come from, what they do or can do, what the importance is of the intention to the practice, of the particular energetic charge with which you practice. And we also practice some re-imaginations of these practices, and in what way they still resonate with the classical logics.

Why are circles and spirals ubiquitous in the Tantra? What is the use of milk and wine in ritual? What are we doing when we connect to a partner? What happens in the sacred union of our energetic bodies? How to set up a solid home practice and invite others to join? What breathings do we use to accomplish what? How to understand often misunderstood terms like ‘freedom’, ‘pleasure’, ‘surrender’, ‘inner master’,… in a spiritual context?

If this sounds like a lot of talking, that is actually not what this workshop is aiming at: the emphasis is on practicing together, exchanging experiences, next to 1 or 2 satsang moments to put practice into context. We end the weekend with a First Initiation Ritual to welcome those of you who are interested in a committed path or practice and devotion into the Community.
