Rooting our Tantra practice in traditional wisdom
26-28/9/2025, Heverlee (Leuven)
One of my students recently said to me: ‘Tantra for sure is all about pleasure, that is what I have learned in the workshops I have taken, and I did a LOT of them.’ I found this quite painful, since, indeed, he had done a lot of work. But the practice was one-sided, and closed to new experiences. There was a lack of understanding and openness in this remark. And I felt that what was missing was a broader understanding of the roots of Tantra, the classical teachings, and the underlying logic and understanding of Tantra as a spiritual path of liberation.

So… in this workshop, we make the connection between classical Tantra and what is practiced mostly nowadays in the West. We read some Tantric texts (fragments, of course) from the classical Tantra, and link them to the ‘neo-tantric’ practices. That means we still practice most of the time, but we also take a bit of space to unpack the context of the breathing and energy work.
Why do we practice what we do? What was the ‘system’ that made these teachings come to life? And how can we incorporate these teachings into our daily lives?
This workshop is open to practitioners that are new to the work, or to people that just start out, but have an interest in a grounded view on what Tantra is or can be in your life.
